Pevely, MO � August 9th, 2014 � On a night that honored Laura Jones-Jumper, the racing lived up to the excitement that Laura would of greatly appreciated.
In the UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event, a spectacular battle for the lead that saw four different drivers battling for the top spot over the twenty-five laps. Scott Weber, Tim Manville and Randy Korte battled in the early laps for the top spot while Michael Kloos moved up to make a it a four way battle late in the race. Over the final eight laps, Manville and Kloos battled side by side for the lead as they worked heavy lapped traffic. Korte finally cleared Weber for third at about the same time and moved in to battle with Manville and Kloos on the final two laps for the lead. Manville would get the win as he edged out Kloos who took second as he just beat Korte to the line who was third. Weber would get the fourth spot with Bryan Collins rounding out the top five.
The UMP DIRTcar Modifieds provided another classic battle in their feature event. Rusty Griffaw took over the lead on lap four from Joey Walsh and led the pack until the caution flew on lap sixteen. Mark Miner had worked his way up to third from his seventh place starting spot by the time the caution came out on lap sixteen. On the restart, Miner used the cushion up on the high side to pull along side Griffaw for the lead as the two battled it out over the final four laps. Miner’s momentum on the high side allowed him to power past Griffaw down the front stretch and take the win on the final lap. Griffaw would get the second spot. A mad battle behind them over the final four laps ensued as well and it was track point leader Ray Walsh taking third at the finish with Steve Picou finishing fourth and Rick Conoyer taking fifth.
The UMP DIRTcar / AARA Sportsman feature event came down to a race out of turn four to the checkered flag to decide the win. Kent Nations led most of the race early on, but Troy Medley used the high side and pulled even with Nations and the two put on a fantastic battle for the lead racing side by side lap after lap. A caution would wave after the leaders took the white flag and were heading down the back stretch on the final lap. That setup a one lap shootout with Medley getting to start out front. Nations gave it everything he had to get the win as he used the low side to pull even with Medley going through turns one and two and as they went down the backstretch. Nations would dive in hard on the low side going into three and four and would slide up in front of Medley as they exited turn four. Medley would cross over to Nations� inside and beat Nations back to the finish line for the win. Matt Brucato would finish third with Patrick Hawkins taking fourth and Stu Springer fifth.
The UMP DIRTcar / AARA Pro 4 Stocks had four different leaders in their main event with Dallas Lugge passing Eldon Hemken on the final lap to get the win. Hemken would take second with Josh Peppers third, Daniel Edwards fourth and Gary Range fifth.
